Our trip comes to an end.

NOTE:  Pictures will be posted soon!
Thursday was our last full day in Ecuador!  We woke up in Latacunga and Jen & Ella went for a run while everyone else enjoyed bacon, eggs and toast for breakfast.  After breakfast many spent time with the children while others rested.  Mid morning we went on a walk to the end of town to spend time with seniors at Foundation Funsol, where they meet once a week for fellowship and a meal.  We served the seniors their food, sat with them and danced!  When we arrived, we greeted each and every one of the seniors and many greeted us in the traditional way of kissing us on the cheek.  I couldn't help but see how beautiful each and every one of them is!
After serving the seniors we went back to the orphanage, had lunch and did a cooking class with the kids, which consisted of making a face on a peanut butter sandwich with leftovers we had in the house. They loved it and so did we.
Mid afternoon we wrapped up our trip with devotions and debriefing and cleaned up our rooms and loaded onto the bus.  We went into Latacunga to eat at La Espanola Steakhouse.  It was delicious!  After dinner we took the 2 hour trip to the airport.  At midnight we flew out of Quito.  At Miami we divided into 2 groups to head to Chicago and from Chicago our group parted in 3 different ways.
It was amazing to be God's hands and feet these past 10 days, but I know that each of us was unexpectedly blessed as well.  We had an amazing group that got along well and worked together fantastically!
There were so many amazing moments where we could see God, where we could see the beauty of His creation in even the most unlikely of places, such as a city dump.  We were blessed to have so many opportunities while we were in Ecuador!
If you have a few moments, reflect with us by choosing to listen to one or all of the following songs on YouTube.  At some point during the trip these songs held significant importance, even if it was only because of one line in them.
Thank you all for your prayers and support.  We all made it to our destinations safely!  Thanks for following our blog and we hope you join us on our next trip to Ecuador!   Feel free to comment if you'd like to come along on the journey!

If you're brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.

Wednesday in Latacunga.

What a blessing this entire trip has been!  Today we were in Latacunga and we had a busy, but a calm day.  Our morning started with homemade crepes and feeding and playing with babies.  Some of our group painted the doors in the upstairs, while others played music with the older kids.  After lunch we walked to the river.  It was amazing to sit on the edge of the river and hear the waterfall behind us.  We discovered that the white volcanic rock floats in the water.  We relaxed and spent time with God as the water passed by.  After coming back to the house, it began to rain and continued for about 15 minutes, after which Jen & Ella went for a run.  After dinner we went to the mall for dessert, some very interesting and delicious flavors.  We love spending time with the kids, and they are blessing us!  Tomorrow is our last day here and we will be flying out at midnight tomorrow night.  Please pray for our safe return home.  God Bless!
